ACE COMBAT 8 S-Rank Requirements & Score Guide

Understand the published community scoring references, their shared source, the score-versus-time trade-off and why a calculated range is not a rank.

Official ACE COMBAT 8 promotional artwork; not a screenshot of this specific guide or mission.

A useful S-rank reference must distinguish the listed target, destruction score, time contribution and unsupported conditions. The mission library contains the currently published community dossiers, listed below. None is labelled as independently tested by this site.

What the sources actually establish

LmanYan95 reports a GPT-assisted extraction of game files. We read the published data, not the underlying game files. StormXTS cites that same post and describes a destruction-score-plus-time-bonus approach for Ace difficulty in Free Mission. This is useful community evidence, but it is not two independent datasets or an official scoring specification.

No precise patch identifier was established. The reference version community-2026-10-13 identifies our source-review snapshot, not a game build. Promotional images are illustrative and are not proof of a mission result.

This is intentionally not a fabricated full mission list. Adding a record requires an attributable mission identity, consistent numeric boundaries, content in both supported languages and an explanation of limitations.

The calculation that is safe to explain

For the community scenario, the needed bonus is the listed target minus destruction score, with a minimum of zero. The diagnostic compares that requirement with a possible bonus band. This arithmetic is transparent; it does not verify that the reference is the game's true rule.

Before the listed decay interval, the scenario uses the reported maximum. After the zero-bonus point it uses zero. Inside the interval, it deliberately preserves a range from zero to the maximum. The exact slope and integer rounding have not been confirmed for this implementation, so linear interpolation is not enabled.

If even the upper total is below the target, the reference suggests a shortfall. If the entire range is above it, the reference target is met. If the range crosses it, the outcome is uncertain. None of those states is a recorded in-game rank.

Conditions the tool refuses

Other difficulties, story mode and any checkpoint retry are outside this diagnostic's selected scope. Unknown retry status is not equivalent to no retry. The interface also requires acknowledgement that the data is untested and not patch-matched.

An exact-looking result built on an invalid interval is worse than a clear refusal. In the reviewed sources, Mission 13 has a conflicting time endpoint. It is not included in the supported set, and we do not silently pick the more convenient number.

How to make a reference stronger

Keep a result screenshot or video together with platform, game version, mission, mode, difficulty, destruction score, time and retry history. A contradiction is useful evidence, not something to hide. First check that inputs refer to the same completed attempt, then compare the game's actual result with the source.

Use the calculator for a scenario, time-bonus guidance for range interpretation, and My Progress for actual results. The manual target comparison remains available separately.

Have you verified all S-rank thresholds?

No. Only the published community references are available. Source checking and unit tests do not mean the game rules were tested in the game.

Can the calculator save S ranks for me?

No. You must confirm and enter the rank actually awarded. The scenario tool never writes a rank to your progress.
